Y Northeast Avalon now Safe Harbour certified

Safe Harbour

Y Northeast Avalon now Safe Harbour certifiedAfter completing the Safe Harbour Seminar in February 2010, the YMCA of Northeast Avalon is now a certified location equipped with the knowledge to better understand diverse workforce and improve our services to diverse customers and clients.

We are leaders who are committed to providing an inclusive workplace environment and promoting diversity in our communities by signing on to three key commitments:

Equitable Treatment for All: Welcoming all clients and/or customers in a respectful manner. If a concern is expressed regarding a lack of respectful treatment, employers and staff take steps to address it.

An Immediate Safe Place: For someone experiencing discrimination in or near the worksite which may include a place to sit, a glass of water, a phone to use, and access to a list of resources.

Prepared Employees and Worksites: Preparing all staff to implement these commitments.

Safe Harbour Locations offer immediate and temporary safe refuge from mistreatment. Staff are also prepared to respond to discrimination.
