Thank you to everyone who participated and attended our 13th YMCA Career Fair!
The YMCA of Northeast Avalon hosted our 13th Career Fair on Thursday, March 14th, 2013, from 10:30am – 5:00pm at the Ches Penney Family Y on 35 Ridge Road in St. John’s. The theme for this fair, “Opportunity Awaits,” represents the opportunities that lie ahead for both employers and attendees. We are continuing to target exhibitors from various sectors hiring within the next six months. We also invite post-secondary schools to make visitors aware of the programs offered in terms of educational advancement.
About the Y Career Fair
The YMCA Career Fair is open to the public and offers exhibitors access to a wide selection of candidates from all sectors. The advantage to exhibitors is being able to match faces to resumes and provide valuable exposure to their company. In addition, this multi-sector recruitment event is a great opportunity to make connections with qualified candidates who are able to participate in a company’s diversity programs. For job seekers, it is the opportunity to meet with the people who do the hiring in an organization.
There is no fee attached to participate in the career fair, however we encourage companies and organizations to make a donation to our annual YMCA Strong Kids Campaign focused on raising much needed financial support for children, youth, and families who are unable to afford the full cost of participation in a Y program or activity.
This March we are expecting approximately 35 exhibitors and over 400 visitors to attend the event.
For job seekers, be sure to come prepared. Bring at least 10 - 20 copies of your resume for employers who request them and dress as though you are going to an interview. Take this opportunity to explore your options and connect with employers! Please click here for a full list of Career Fair tips.
A presentation will be offered on Staying Motivated During your Job Search at 1:30pm in the Ernst & Young room at the Ches Penney Family Y.
