Life is Better Together

Chris Roos
President & CEO

When we come together and look out for each other, anything is possible. Each and every one of you-members, participants, volunteers, partners, employees and donors-plays an essential role in the YMCA of Northeast Avalon. We are appreciative of all the outstanding volunteers and staff who give tremendous leadership while strengthening and expanding the capacity of our Y.

In 2012 the Board of Directors has launched a new five year strategic plan called A View for our Y. The role of the YMCA has never been more critical. The story of our community is told in the stories of the people we touch; from a healthy start in life for our youngest infants to a strong and welcoming sense of community for those of all ages.

The new Ches Penney Family Y facility is having the intended impact on our community. Active people are living better as thousands participate weekly in swimming lessons, youth programs and adult fitness classes. Families are enjoying the pools and bouncy castles, fabulous views from the track and conditioning room and developing healthy routines together.

Our focus on expansion in Camp Programs more than doubled the children who made good friends and learned valuable life lessons over the past year. The number of participants requiring assistance to participate in YMCA programs has increased although our community doubled their gifts to the Strong Kids Campaign too. By investing in the youth of today, we are building tomorrow's healthier communities.

The goal of our Employment programs is to help people reach their full potential. The YMCA's proven leadership will undoubtedly continue to inspire people to acquire the skills and guidance they need.

It goes without saying that our achievements would not be possible without the tireless efforts of dedicated volunteers and staff alike. We can take pride in a job well done over the past year and look forward to continue working together to build healthy communities. After all, the commitment of many to collaboration will ensure the value of the YMCA legacy outlives us all.
